In the Service of Indian Classical Music OR Promoting Indian Classical Music

Indian Classical Music is a great cultural heritage of our ancient civilization. Music has always been given top importance in our Indian ancient, medieval and current modern civilizations. Lord Krishna played his flute and attracted not only his followers but also cows, peacocks etc. Lord Shiva has Damru in his hands and is also worshipped for his dance. Maa Saraswati has always been depicted with Veena in her hands. Taking cue from our rich traditions and cultural heritage Shree Gulab Rai Charitable Trust has been regularly organising for the last several years Indian Classical Music festivals by the name of Swatursav.

This year the trust is organising Swarutsav’22 where Padma Bhushan Ustad Rashid Khan ji
will render his performance along with his troupe on Wednesday 30th Nov 2022 at Kamani Auditorium, Mandi House, Delhi 6:30 pm.

All the expenses related to the festivals including artist fee, auditoriums rent, sound system, etc are fully borne by the Trust. The Trust is financed by Shri. Chhatratpati Ranjit Rai, President of the Trust, his family members and various companies run by the family.

Justice Arjan Sikri, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India, Smt. Indu Malhotra, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India, Vidushi Dr. Uma Garg, Former Dean, Delhi Faculty of Music & Fine Arts shall be the Guests of Honour at Swarutsav”22.

Padma Bhushan Usad Rashid Khan is a master of Rampur-Sahaswan gayaki (style of singing). He has been conferred with various awards for his services to Classical Music.

The Trust was established in the year 1994 in the memory of late Lala Gulab Rai ji. Lala ji was an industrialist, a freedom fighter and a philanthropist. He was an eminent artist of Jal Tarang and played from Akashwani Delhi for more than 30 years. He also initiated a degree music college named Sangeet Niketan in Delhi.

Some Swatursav’s organized by Trust in the past :

Swarutsav ’11 : 5th Nov’11, New Delhi. Artists : Shri Vishwa Mohan Bhatt (Mohan Veena) and others. Shri Subodh Kant Sahai, Hon’ble Cabinet Minister for Tourism was the Chief Guest.

Swarutsav ’12 : 1st Dec’12 , New Delhi. Artists: Dr. Smt. N Rajam (Violin), Dr. Smt. Sangeeta Shankar (Violin) and Pandit Rajinder Singh for their performances.

Swarutsav ’15 : 10th Dec’15, FICCI Auditorium, New Delhi. Classical & Bhajan program by Shri Anup Jalota ji. Dr. Mahesh Sharma, Hon’ble Minister of State, Tourism and Culture was the Chief Guest and Shri. R K Sinha, Member of Parliament as the Guest of Honour.

Shri Chhatrapati Ranjit Rai looks after activities of the Trust. He also runs various Industries and Business successfully. He is a B+ Grade Artist and has played Violin from All India Radio and has given several public performances in India and Germany.
